"As part of the Autumn Budget, the Chancellor announced that both the per-item prescription price and pre-payment certificate cost will be frozen for 2026/27 at £9.90 and £114.50 respectively.
The Prescription Charges Coalition welcomes the Chancellor’s decision not to increase the charge, but the Government must still address the long-standing unfairness for many people with chronic conditions by committing to a review of the prescription charge exemption list. People with conditions such as cystic fibrosis, Parkinson’s, rheumatoid arthritis, asthma and many more are still paying for their essential medicines because of an outdated exemption list, alongside other substantial costs that occur just as a result of living with a long-term condition."
